Publishing your Framer website

Publishing your website with Framer is remarkably straightforward. In fact, it’s as easy as clicking the "Publish" button located in the top right corner of the Framer editor.

How to Publish

To publish your website for the first time, simply click the “Publish” button in the top right corner of the Framer editor. Once you do, a framer.app domain will be automatically generated for you. If you prefer to use a custom domain, you can easily connect one by following this simple guide.

Staging & Production

If you’re on a Pro plan with staging enabled, you have the flexibility to publish directly to your staging environment. You’ll notice an additional “Staging” tab at the top of the user interface. Just click ‘Publish’ in this tab to push your changes to staging. When you’re ready to go live, without having to dive into Settings, switch over to the “Production” tab and press “Deploy Latest”.

Review Changes

Before hitting “Publish,” it’s wise to review any changes made to your project. You can do this by selecting “View Changes”, which will display a list of modifications along with the profile image of the user who made them. This ensures you’re fully informed before your site goes live.

Site Optimization

Keeping your site optimized is crucial for smooth performance. An unoptimized site may experience issues like slow content loading or malfunctioning links.

To check if your site is optimized, look for the “Optimized” text—blue or purple means everything is in order. If you see red text, some adjustments are needed. Simply click on the red text to be directed to the specific section causing the issue. For more complex problems, such as nested links or code errors, you’ll be redirected to where you can download an error report to help you identify and fix these issues.
