How to choose the right font license for Framer

If you’re considering purchasing a custom font for your Framer websites, it’s essential to choose a Webfont license rather than a Desktop license.

A Webfont license is specifically designed for online use, ensuring optimal performance and compatibility. To use your licensed fonts in Framer, upload the appropriate file formats (WOFF or WOFF2) to your Workspace Settings. Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to your Team Settings in the Framer Dashboard.

  2. Upload the WOFF or WOFF2 files of your custom font.

  3. Refresh any open projects to make the new fonts available.

WOFF2 is particularly recommended as it’s the smallest, fastest-loading format, optimized for web usage. These formats ensure your fonts look great and load quickly on the Canvas, in Preview, and on your deployed site. They’re also widely supported by modern browsers, making them a reliable choice.

Avoid using Desktop fonts like OTF and TTF for web purposes, as they may cause licensing conflicts and performance issues. Desktop licenses are intended for offline use in design software and aren’t suitable for web environments.

For your Framer projects, always choose a Webfont license and use WOFF/WOFF2 formats to ensure performance, compliance, and seamless integration.
