How to build and handover sites to clients
In this guide, we explain the optimal approach to creating and transferring client websites in Framer while ensuring seamless collaboration and maintenance.
Build the client site in your own framer account
Design and develop the client’s site entirely in your Framer account.
Invite the client as a viewer (free) for sign-off or as an editor if they need to make design or content changes.
Hand over the completed website to your client
Once the site is approved:
Generate a remix link for the project.
Share the link with your client to transfer ownership.
If you're in the Framer Partner Program:
Add your partner tag to the remix link (e.g.,&via=your-partner-tag) to ensure you receive commission for referring the client.
The client maintains ownership and adds you as an editor
When the client opens the remix link, they will be prompted to copy the project to their Framer account. This creates a duplicate under their ownership.
Next steps for the client:
Add a Site Plan (ensure they know which plan to choose).
Add a custom domain.
Publish the website via the settings cog in the top-right corner.
For ongoing maintenance or final changes, they can add you as an editor to the project.
