How template ranking works

Learn how Framer ranks templates in the Marketplace and how pricing or engagement affects visibility.

The Framer Marketplace highlights standout templates through the Popular section, which uses performance-based signals to surface what’s resonating most with users.

What determines popularity

Templates in the Popular section are ranked using engagement signals that reflect meaningful user interactions. These interactions indicate interest, usability, and the overall value a template provides.

You can browse Popular templates using time-range filters to see what’s trending over different periods. Rankings update daily, so you’re always viewing the freshest data.

How pricing changes affect ranking

To keep rankings fair, we only count engagement that occurs after the most recent pricing change — for example, when switching a template from free to paid or the other way around.

After a pricing update, a template’s ranking may shift because only new interactions contribute to its Popular score. This helps ensure fair comparison across pricing models, especially since free templates naturally receive more engagement.

No performance data is lost. We keep all historical activity, but only events after the pricing change count toward Popular ranking.

Balancing free and paid templates

Each page of the Popular section includes a balanced mix of free and paid templates. This ensures a diverse set of options for different needs, budgets, and workflows.

Promoting fairness and diversity

The ranking system is designed to promote fairness, visibility, and freshness. Time-based filters and daily updates help new creators gain traction while continuing to highlight consistently high-performing templates.
