How affiliate links work

Affiliate links allow you to track referrals and earn commissions when users sign up for Framer through your unique URLs.

Anyone who’s manually approved, publishes a template or plugin, or joins as a Framer Expert becomes part of the Creator Program. Once you’re in, you’ll see the “Links” tab in your dashboard. Here, you can:

  • Find your main affiliate link, which is your default, permanent URL. You can use it anywhere—on social media, your portfolio, newsletters—and it’ll track all conversions. While it can’t be deleted, you can customize the handle (slug) in Dub.

  • Create custom links for different Framer pages or campaigns. There’s no limit to how many custom links you can create, so feel free to tailor them to various channels or audiences.

  • When you remix a project, a remix link is auto-generated in your dashboard—no manual parameters needed.

Please note that old affiliate links created with FirstPromoter still work—any existing via-tag links will now automatically track through Dub.

How does the affiliate tracking work?

All affiliate links are powered by Dub, which handles both referral tracking and payouts. Payouts are processed automatically via Stripe, so make sure your payment details are set up correctly in Dub to receive your earnings. You can access your Dub account directly from the ‘Links’ tab in your Creator Dashboard. To manage payouts, update payment information, and track commissions in detail, go directly to Dub.

Every link you create has real-time analytics built in—track clicks, sign-ups, subscriptions, and earnings right from the ‘Links’ tab in your Creator Dashboard. If your numbers seem higher than expected lately, it’s because of the transition from FirstPromoter to Dub. As part of the migration, we regenerated events (clicks, leads, sales) for all existing leads. But don’t worry—your revenue is accurate and up to date.

Sign-up links are referral links that redirect to any page on framer.com — such as the pricing or help pages — and are intended to be shared with new users. These links allow you to earn commissions when someone signs up for a Framer account through your link and later purchases a subscription.
As a Creator, you’ll find your default affiliate link (e.g. framer.link/yourname) in the Links tab of the Creator Space. You can also create additional sign-up links by clicking the “New Link” button in the top-right corner of the Links tab and setting the destination to any page on the Framer website.
A few important things to keep in mind:

  • Sign-up links only work for new users. If someone already has a Framer account, signing up or purchasing via your link won’t count toward your commissions.

  • Template purchases override sign-up referrals. If someone signs up via your link but buys a template, the commission goes to the template creator, not the referrer.

  • For client work, remix links are best. If you’re designing projects for individual clients, we highly recommend using remix links instead, as they track subscriptions tied directly to the shared project. Let us know if you'd like more info on using remix links.

To handover a project to your client, create a remix link for the project you have under your workspace. As a Creator, your remix links will look like this: https://framer.link/xxxxxxx. If you don't see it under that form would mean that you are not using the Framer account you have attached to your Creator status.
Share the remix link with your client. It's important that they open it on the same device and browser they will use to purchase the subscription.
As long as these steps are followed, your commission will be issued automatically and should appear in your Creator Dashboard right away.

Yes, you can change your link handle through Dub (e.g., from framer.link/steve to framer.link/peter)—but it’s important to mention that the old version will stop working and redirect to the Framer homepage, and any clicks won’t be tracked or attributed to you. In case you decide to change it, make sure to update any live posts or pages where you’ve shared it.

To update your affiliate link slug, go to Dub, open your ‘Affiliate Links’ folder, click your main link, unlock it, and update the slug.

Guidelines & Notes

  • Your Dub account is automatically set up for you—access it directly via the Links tab.

  • Free templates are fair game—feel free to include affiliate links inside them. If a user signs up and upgrades through your link, you’ll earn a commission.

  • Paid ads using affiliate links are not allowed. This will result in removal from the program.
