Handling untracked referrals

Referrals may take 24 to 48 hours to appear in your FirstPromoter account. However, technical issues such as network problems, VPNs, proxies, DNS issues, or cookie managers can disrupt proper tracking.

If your referral hasn’t been recorded, we can manually add it to your FirstPromoter account. To request this, simply fill out the manual referral form.

Since this is a manual process, it may take some time for the update to reflect in your account. You will be notified once our team processes your request.

Understanding attribution differences

Understanding the distinction between how affiliate and remix links attribute credit is essential for ensuring you receive proper recognition for your referrals.

Affiliate links

Affiliate links are formatted as https://framer.com/?via=partner-tag.

These links rely on cookies, which remain active for up to 90 days, and use a "first-touch" attribution model. This means that the affiliate partner who first refers the customer receives credit for the referral. However, affiliate links have some potential vulnerabilities:

  • Users must accept the privacy policy for tracking to function.

  • Ad or tracker blockers may hinder tracking.

  • Safari only stores client-side cookies for 7 days, which can limit the effectiveness of affiliate links.

Remix links

Remix links are formatted as https://framer.com/projects/new?duplicate=projectId&via=partner-tag.

These links do not rely on visible clicks but ensure referral visibility directly within your FirstPromoter account. Since remix links do not depend on cookies or user browsing methods, they offer more reliable conversion tracking. They also maintain the same 90-day attribution period as affiliate links and can override default attribution, ensuring payment for a specific assisted project, even if a previous affiliate tag was credited through a cookie.

Remix links provide a more secure way to track revenue from projects, ensuring that you receive credit for conversions.
