Enterprise True-Ups

Enterprise billing with Framer ensures flexibility and transparency for managing paid seats, sites, and additional services. This guide provides an overview of the billing process, including how true-ups work, what counts as billable, and how to manage your account effectively throughout the subscription period.

Billing for Enterprise Plans

For Enterprise plans, we’ll connect directly with the main account contacts (or designated individuals like billing contacts) to confirm the number of billable seats and sites.

Enterprise plans operate on an annual subscription with bi-monthly true-ups. True-ups adjust your contract to include any additional paid seats, sites, locales or any other add-on added throughout the year.

True-ups are calculated at the organization level, covering all workspaces, users, and sites within your organization. Learn more about Organizations in Framer.

What Counts as Billable on Enterprise Plans?

For users on the Framer platform:

Editors and admins are considered billable seats.

Viewers can be added without limits or extra costs.

Additionally, projects with a custom domain or reverse proxy setup are billable.

Other items like locales, form submissions, and more might also incur charges if they exceed your contract’s included limits.

Seats and sites added to your contract can be reassigned or transferred during the contract period. Learn how to move a site plan between projects.

Flexibility with the Enterprise Plan

With the Enterprise plan, you can:

  • Purchase a set number of paid seats and sites upfront for the year.

  • Add additional paid seats or sites anytime:

    • If a Viewer is upgraded to an Editor role in a project or workspace, their seat will automatically convert to a paid full seat. They can continue using Framer for free until the next true-up, ensuring seamless team collaboration and reducing the average cost per seat.

    • Decide during the true-up period whether to retain and pay a prorated amount for additional editor seats or downgrade them to Viewer seats (which are free).

Pro Tip: To avoid unexpected paid seats, you can allocate users as Viewers by default. On Enterprise plans, new users are added as Viewers automatically. You can adjust this in your settings to make new users Editors by default if preferred.

True-Up Schedule

True-ups happen bi-monthly. If account overages are detected, Framer will notify your organization’s designated contacts via email or Slack. You’ll have two weeks to review and adjust before the billing amount is finalized.

Here’s how we’ll notify you:

  1. A detailed email/slack message outlining the number of billable seats and sites since your last billing date.

  2. Follow-up reminders one week and three days before the true-up is finalized.

Managing Users During a True-Up

In the two-week true-up window, you can:

  • Review the list of current paid seats.

  • Downgrade any users who no longer need a paid seat.

  • Confirm and lock in your final invoice amount.

Confirm paid seats during a true-up

New paid seats and sites added during the billing period will only be charged after an admin (or other designated contact) confirms the invoice during the true-up period.

Downgrading users and sites

Note: If you downgrade a site at true-up or renewal, remove the custom domain from the project. Redirecting DNS records or transferring pages to other projects without removing the custom domain will still count as an active site.

Finalizing Usage

Once you’ve reviewed and adjusted your seats and sites, a designated contact should confirm the updated contract. The prorated charges will be added to your next billing cycle. Any additional seats or sites added after confirmation will roll into the next true-up.

Making Payments

Payments for true-ups will follow the method outlined in your Enterprise agreement.

If you’d like to include a purchase order on your invoice, please send it to your account management team. Framer will generate a single invoice for each true-up.

Who should I contact if I have questions about the true-up process?

You can reach out to your account manager via email or your Slack channel.
